In recent months, the Olympic Academy of Ukraine has been involved in several projects and events.
Key member of “All-Ukrainian Forum: Healthy School – Healthy Community”
The Olympic Academy of Ukraine played an important role at the “All-Ukrainian Active Forum: Healthy School – Healthy Community”, which took place on 24th and 25th October 2023 in Kyiv. The forum attracted more than 200 guests, including international participants such as directors, physical education teachers, and representatives of higher education institutions. The programme included a panel discussion on “Olympic education – one of the means of humanising education”.
One of the highlights of the event was the exhibition of the winners of the pupils’ creative works from the competition “The Olympic Movement through the Eyes of Children”, organised by the Olympic Academy of Ukraine. Thanks to the Academy’s efforts, the Forum became an important meeting place for education experts and school representatives from all over Ukraine. The promotion of Olympic values and their integration into education systems made a valuable contribution to creating a healthy school environment and a strong community.
Ukraine was #active during the European Week of Sport
Despite the tense situation in the country, the National Olympic Academy and the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine organised a variety of sporting events in all regions of Ukraine as part of the European #BeActive initiative during the European Week of Sport. These included sports festivals, masterclasses with well-known Olympians, joint competitions for children and their parents and “Sport for All” events under the motto “Move to the rhythm of victory!
The #BeActive campaign lasted over a week and brought together more than 20,000 people from different parts of Ukraine. The organisers were very satisfied with the implementation of the initiative that encouraged people of all ages and backgrounds to actively participate and experience the joy of physical activity together.
#BeActive – European Week of Sport
The European Week of Sport is a campaign organised by the European Commission to encourage people in Europe to lead a more active lifestyle. It takes place every year from 23rd to 30th September under the motto #BeActive and is held in a total of 40 European countries.
General Assembly of the International Society of Olympic Historians
Another event at which the Olympic Academy of Ukraine was present internationally was at meetings of the Executive Committee and the General Assembly of the International Society of Olympic Historians (ISOH), at which Prof. Dr Mariia Bulatova, Vice President of the European Olympic Academies and President of the Olympic Academy of Ukraine, was an active part.
The event took place on 6th and 7th October at the US Olympic and Paralympic Museum in Colorado Springs, USA. In addition to the sessions, the programme offered participants the opportunity to work in the archives of the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee Museum and to visit the US Olympic Training Centre.
