From a commitment to promote gender equality in sport and a sense of responsibility for shaping the image of sport in Israel, the Charter for Gender Equality of the Olympic Committee of Israel was written and signed on Olympic Day 2018. In the spirit of the values of the State of Israel and the Olympic values it was signed by sport leaders, Olympic athletes, figures in key positions in sport, and others, with the aim of effecting social change.
The President of the International Olympic Committee, Dr. Thomas Bach, visited Israel after receiving the English version of the Gender Equality Charter of the Olympic Committee of Israel. During his visit, in the presence of the NOC board members and sport officials, IOC President Bach signed the document on September 20, 2022.
Equality is a basic human right of deep importance and a fundamental principle of the Olympic Charter. We at the Olympic Committee of Israel believe in equality between the sexes and strive to realize this free of bias.
The Charter for Gender Equality is an important pioneering document serving as an action guide for anyone involved in sport organized under the Olympic Committee of Israel. The Charter is not only a statement of values. It is also an obligation to promote action based on solutions to achieve equality between the sexes with regard to Olympic sport in Israel and in general.
The Olympic Committee of Israel is honored that the IOC President validated the agreement with his signature.
