With the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on the horizon, the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Israel organised a festive event at the Meir Medical Center, bringing together Olympic and Paralympic athletes, children, and youths in a joyful celebration of sport and community.
For the second year in a row, the NOC of Israel dedicated this special day to the children of the Meir Sport and Health Center, a place where Olympic athletes have been volunteering for the past two years. This initiative reflects the profound connection between sports and health, underscoring the NOC’s commitment to community engagement.
The Meir Medical Center, serving as the official medical partner of the Israeli Olympic Team for over two decades, has been instrumental in supporting the nation’s top athletes. Their dedication extends beyond medical support, as they actively participate in educational initiatives that promote Olympism and inspire future generations.
Promoting Olympic values
The event was inaugurated by Ms. Yael Arad, IOC Member and NOC President, together with Dr. Yaron Mushkat, CEO of the Meir Medical Center. The opening ceremony adhered to Olympic protocol, reinforcing the values of respect and friendship.
Approximately 130 children had the opportunity to participate in various Olympic and Paralympic sports, including Judo, Archery, Football, Gymnastics, Fencing, Goalball, and Wheelchair Basketball. These activities were led by athletes, providing the young participants with a chance to learn directly from their sporting heroes.
