General Assembly postponed due to war in Ukraine

Due to the current developments in Ukraine, the EOA Executive Board, after careful consideration, has decided to postpone the Fourth EOA General Assembly, which was scheduled for Friday 25 February 2022, for a temporary delay. Members and Observers were informed by email on Thursday.

The Olympic Games and the Olympic Movement are in the service of peace and international understanding. On behalf of EOA morals and values, it does not seem appropriate to hold the General Assembly in the present conditions. Moreover, the communication of delegates and observers in some participating countries via the internet is not ensured.

The EOA condemns the war in Ukraine and calls for a rapid resolution. We stand by the principles of peace, respect, tolerance, and international unity in which the war contradicts. Peaceful coexistence and solidarity of the world is the fundament of Olympism; therefore, we hope for an end to this senseless conflict and a return to world order.

Furthermore, the EOA Executive Board will do its utmost to reschedule the General Assembly at its earliest convenience.
