Albanian Olympic Academy kicks off the 2024 Olympic Year with lively school event

The Albanian Olympic Academy has started the 2024 Olympic year with full vigour. In collaboration with the Albanian National Olympic Committee, they launched in February a project to promote the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

The project aims to familiarise pupils in Albania with the Olympic Movement by educating them about the ideas and life of the founder of Olympism, Baron Pierre de Coubertin. The focus of the Olympic education project is on promoting creativity and experiential learning to make the concept tangible for young people and to generate enthusiasm for the Games.

The opening event took place at Qemal Stafa High School in Tirana and was attended by the President of KOKSH, Mr Fidel Ylli, the French Ambassador, Mrs Catherine Suard and the Board of the Olympic Academy. The school headmaster welcomed the participants to the event and talented students presented moments from Coubertin’s life in the French language. President Ylli and the French Ambassador also addressed the students and congratulated them on their efforts, their creativity and, above all, their participation.

Elements of art, Albanian culture and sport were interwoven with the colours of the Olympic Games and the event ended with a friendly match between the girls’ and boys’ basketball teams from the “Qemal Stafa” and the “Çajupi” schools, two schools participating in the “Sports Teams in Schools” project.
