Sixteen sports administrators graduate from the Belgian Olympic Academy

The recent cohort of the Belgian Olympic Academy Sport Management Programme graduated in March 2022. Sixteen participants received their ‘Management in Sport Organisations’ diploma, in the presence of Prof. Annick Willem of Ghent University, Prof. Thierry Zintz of UCLouvain and BOIC CEO, Cédric Van Branteghem. The graduates are comprised of individuals from the field of national sports administration.

The “Belgian Olympic Academy” is a collaborative initiative between two universities (UGhent and UCLouvain) and the NOC of Belgium, the BOIC, which currently consists of this graduate diploma and has joined the EOA in 2021.

During an academic year, the intake is taught by Belgian and international experts in various topics of management and in the education of the Olympic idea, supplemented by an excursion to the Olympic capital of Lausanne. Besides the lessons, participants design a practical project within their own or another sports organisation.

Benjamin Wéry, Social Media Coordinator at the BOIC says: “The Belgian Olympic Academy is a fascinating training programme in which different aspects of top-class sport, marketing, communication and management are addressed.”

The recent cohort benefited from a new modification of the programme with the inclusion of block seminars while being hosted in some of the top sport centres of Sport Vlaanderen and Adeps. The next edition will start in January 2023.
