History and projects of the Academy
The Kosovo Olympic Academy (KOA) was established in June 2021 and will take a leading role in promoting Olympic values and spirit, with a special focus on educating professionals in the field of sport in Kosovo. The mission of the Academy is to promote the Olympic Values and the Olympic Spirit, as well as to provide the highest standards of education and professional opportunities to the sports community in Kosovo. The vision of the Olympic Academy is to strengthen the Olympic brand in Kosovo by raising awareness of the Olympic Movement and educating generations of professionals in the field of sport to create opportunities for stronger and better-developed sports in Kosovo. The Kosovo Olympic Academy aims to be a creative and leading centre for all educational and research programmes related to Olympism and Olympic values, sports managers, coaches, athletes, sports teachers and students, promoting the fundamental principles and values of Olympism in Kosovo.
The Kosovo Olympic Academy will focus mainly on the following areas:
- Education levels for sport administrators (sport management courses);
- Education levels for sport coaches in collaboration with national federations;
- Education levels for sport referees in collaboration with national federations;
- Education levels for Olympic Values;
- Education levels for athletes returning from sport events;
- Promote Olympic education programs in primary and secondary schools;
- Organise lectures, seminars, summer courses for young people, children’s camps, scientific symposia dealing with specialized issues on the Olympic Movement;
- Establishing sport institutions of cultural level such as Kosovo Sport Museum, The Square of Sport Legends, etc;
- Creation of an Olympic archive; establishment of an Olympic thematic library
All activities of the Kosovo Olympic Academy are based on the guidelines and programmes of the International Olympic Academy, the European Olympic Academies, the Olympic Charter and the interests of the Kosovo Olympic Committee in promoting cultural values, training of sports professionals, ethical and moral principles, and Olympic ideals.
