On 24th November 2023, from 14:00 to 15:30 CET, the Slovenian Olympic Committee together with the EOC EU Office invite to the final conference of the project and the presentation of the long-term project results.
In 2023, the 2500 young athletes from 48 countries participated at the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Maribor. The success of the event was only possible due to the engagement and dedication of more than 850 volunteers, who play an essential role in the organization of such a large sporting event.
Focusing on volunteering in sport, the Erasmus + project Active, Healthy and Happy Volunteers at the European Youth Olympic Festival – Maribor 2023 aimed to create a friendly environment for volunteers by offering targeted activities, mentoring, workshops and cultural events that promote a healthy lifestyle and social inclusion. At the EYOF 2023, the volunteers were thereby successfully integrated into the organisational structure and at the same time a broad system for adequately rewarding their contribution was created.
The presentation of the project and their results on November 24th, 2023 offers the opportunity to get to know a best-practice example of how to involve active volunteers in targeted activities at major sporting events.
