Promoting Olympic Values through Journalism: Albanian Olympic Academy Empowers Young Media Talents

With the support of Olympic Solidarity and under the coordination of the Albanian National Olympic Committee, the Albanian Olympic Academy launched an inspiring initiative aimed at fostering the next generation of sports journalists. The two-day training course “New Talents in Sports Journalism in School” brought together around 20 young participants from across Albania who were selected through a competitive two-month process.

The programme was designed to equip these students with both journalistic skills and a foundational understanding of Olympic Values. In doing so, the course not only introduced them to the principles of the Olympic Movement but also encouraged their active involvement in the promotion of sport and fair play within their local communities. Many of the young talents were already active in school sport structures and welcomed the opportunity to explore their potential future roles in sports media.

Delivered through a dynamic combination of expert-led presentations and hands-on group activities, the course methodology highlighted the importance of practice-oriented learning. Contributions from experienced media professionals and Olympic Education Coordinators helped ground the sessions in real-world application. The participants responded with high engagement, showcasing not only technical skill but also a remarkable degree of creativity, energy, and commitment to the Olympic spirit.

This initiative stands as a strong example of how National Olympic Academies can nurture youth engagement, strengthen Olympic education, and build bridges between sport and society through innovative educational projects.
