Olympic Updates from Ukraine – EOA Family celebrates Olympic Day (IV)

In the fourth part of our series on the occasion of Olympic Day, we are pleased to share updates from Ukraine. Just like with Austria in Part III, we again have the opportunity to present both Olympic day activities and an educational project.

Students unite to celebrate Olympic Day

To celebrate Olympic Day, the National Olympic Academy and the Educational and Scientific Olympic Institute of the National University of Ukraine on Physical Education and Sport (NUPESU) hosted the 2nd International Student Scientific Conference, “The Past, Present State and Future Prospects of the Olympic Movement.” The event promoted Olympic education, student research, and Olympic values. The conference was opened by Dr. Maria Bulatova, President of the Olympic Academy of Ukraine, EOA Vice-President and Director of the Educational and Scientific Olympic Institute of NUPESU.

Conference plenary session

Students from China, Germany, Georgia, and Ukraine presented research on the history of sport and the Olympic Movement, Olympic education, and athlete preparation. Participants also discussed current challenges facing the Olympic Movement and the role of Olympic education in inspiring young people. The conference provided an international platform for scientific dialogue, academic cooperation, and the exchange of ideas while promoting student research and Olympic values.

Educational Project “Olympians Inspire – Children Shape Their Future”

In 2026, the Olympic Academy of Ukraine continues to provide scientific, methodological, and educational support for the international sport and educational project “Olympians Inspire – Children Shape Their Future.” The project promotes Olympic values, healthy lifestyles, patriotic education, and supports Ukrainian refugee children.

Since the beginning of the year, around ten online and in-person events have been organised, bringing together more than 1,000 children and young people from Ukraine, as well as Ukrainian refugee children temporarily living in Italy, the United Kingdom, and Moldova.

Project participants – Ukrainian refugee children from different regions of Ukraine

With the scientific and methodological support of the Olympic Academy of Ukraine, participants had the opportunity to meet Olympic champions and Olympic Games medallists, take part in interactive educational activities, and discuss Olympic values. These events inspire children and young people to participate in sport, adopt healthy lifestyles, pursue personal development, and become active members of their communities.

The project remains an important part of the Olympic Academy of Ukraine’s activities in the field of Olympic education, promoting Olympic values and supporting Ukrainian refugee children and the development of the younger generation.
