On 23 June 2026, the French National Olympic Academy (ANOF) celebrated Olympic Day at the Château de Mirville, the historic residence of Pierre de Coubertin’s family in Normandy. The event brought together nearly 200 primary and secondary school pupils for a day dedicated to Olympic education, sport and culture.
Throughout the day, participants took part in a wide range of educational and sporting activities inspired by the values of Olympism and Paralympism. The programme included orienteering, multisport and para sport activities, artistic workshops, exhibitions, meetings with elite athletes, and an Olympic culture workshop led by the French National Olympic Academy together with several organizations linked to Pierre de Coubertin’s legacy.
A highlight of the day was the signing of a multi-year cooperation agreement between the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) and the French National Olympic Academy (ANOF), in the presence of Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, President of the CNOSF. This agreement formalizes and strengthens the long-standing collaboration between the two organizations in the fields of Olympic education, research, cultural heritage and international cooperation.
The partnership supports the implementation of the Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP/PEVO) in France, the development of educational initiatives for young people and sports leaders, the promotion of Olympic studies through the French Olympic Studies Centre (CEOF), the preservation of France’s sporting heritage through the MéMoS programme, and the reinforcement of international and Francophone cooperation, particularly through the International Olympic Academy.
Held in a place closely associated with Pierre de Coubertin, Olympic Day 2026 reflected a shared conviction: Olympism is far more than the organization of the Olympic Games – it is an educational, cultural and civic project capable of inspiring future generations.
