Social protection is a fundamental human right, as recognised by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the European Union (EU). Our EU-funded Erasmus+ project, Assessing, Evaluating and Implementing Athletes’ Social Protection in Olympic Sports (SOPROS), is dedicated to addressing this critical issue, with a specific focus on improving the social protection of athletes. The project aims to identify and address gaps in current systems across Europe through a dialogue-driven process, ultimately developing actionable solutions.
Your Input is crucial! To draw a holistic picture of athletes’ current social protection landscape, we need input from those directly affected: athletes and stakeholders. Your first-hand insights are invaluable in identifying risks, unmet needs, and specific protection gaps that require urgent attention.
Athletes can access the Athlete Social Protection Check and the survey toolkit here until 15 December 2024.
The Stakeholder Survey Toolkit can be accessed here – also until 15 December.
If you are an elite athlete in an Olympic sport or an employee of an affected stakeholder, we encourage you to take 10 to 15 minutes to complete the respective survey. Your participation contributes to this critical initiative and offers an opportunity to deepen your understanding of the challenges and solutions in relation to athletes social protection.
Further information on the project can be found on the website of the German Sport University. We thank you very much in advance for your efforts and contribution!
