EOA Flame Award Olympic Education : Winners 2025

The European Olympic Academies (EOA) proudly announce the winners of the EOA Flame Award 2025 in the category Olympic Education. This year, the Serbian Olympic Academy and the German Olympic Academy were recognised for their remarkable contributions to promoting Olympic values and education across generations.

Project: Olympic Education in Action – Serbia’s “Promotion of Olympic Values: Respect, Friendship and Excellence”
Organisation: Serbian Olympic Academy

The Serbian Olympic Academy (NOA Serbia) impressed the jury with its nationwide educational initiative “Promotion of Olympic Values: Respect, Friendship and Excellence.”

Launched through a Memorandum of Understanding between the Olympic Committee of Serbia and the Ministry of Education, the project has successfully integrated Olympic Education into elementary schools. Between 2023 and 2024, more than 24,000 students and 1,500 teachers from 115 schools took part in lessons inspired by the Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP).

Teachers were trained in workshops across the country, supported by interactive learning materials, the Virtual Olympic Museum, and the TreninGO mobile app, which encouraged physical activity and healthy lifestyles. Students engaged in creative school projects, quizzes, and physical challenges, culminating in a Grand Finale that celebrated teamwork, fair play, and creativity.

The initiative not only brought Olympic values to classrooms but also created a sustainable network of schools committed to continuing Olympic Education. Its legacy lives on through digital resources, trained educators, and ongoing collaboration with the Ministry of Education.

Project: Franco-German Friendship in the Olympic Spirit – The “German-French Olympic Youth Camp”

Organisation: German Olympic Academy

The German Olympic Academy (DOA) was honoured for the German-French Olympic Youth Camp (DFOJL), held during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Jointly organised by the DOA, the German Sports Youth (dsj), and the French Olympic Committee (CNOSF), the camp brought together 100 young participants from Germany and France to experience the Olympic Games and embody their values of friendship, inclusion, and intercultural understanding.

Over two weeks, the participants lived and learned together at CREPS Île-de-France, engaging in workshops on mental health, gender equality, sustainability, and inclusion, while attending Olympic events and meeting athletes and public figures – including Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Dirk Nowitzki, and Stéphane Diagana.

The camp was the first truly binational edition in the history of Olympic Youth Camps, setting a milestone in Franco-German cooperation and inspiring future collaborations across Europe. A comprehensive bilingual documentation and an official recap video showcase the spirit of the project and its lasting impact.
